Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Thomas Payne (1687-1742), British (English) School, around 1720. A painted oval head-and-shoulders portrait of a man wearing a green cloak and white jabot. Thomas Payne (1687-1742) of Hough-on-the-Hill married Elizabeth Folkes (d.1694), daughter of Martin Folkes (1640-1705) and Dorothy Hovel (d.1724 on 30 July 1717. His daughter Etheldred Payne (1720-1775) married Sir John Cust 3rd Bt of Pinchbeck and 6th Bt of Humby, Speaker of the House of Commons.
