Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Queen Charlotte (of Mecklenburg-Strelitz) (1744-1818), after Sir Joshua Reynolds PRA (Plympton 1723 - London 1792). Inscribed. A full-length portrait, seated in full coronation robes. Her sceptre is placed on a cushion on a table beside her, on the left and red drapery hangs to the right. Reynolds painted a pair of full-length portraits of the enthroned King and Queen to be shown at the first Royal Academy exhibition to take place at Somerset House in 1780. The originals are still at the Royal Academy.
