Summary
Oil painting on canvas, King George III (1738–1820), after Sir Joshua Reynolds PRA (Plympton 1723 - London 1792). Inscribed. A full-length portrait of the King, seated in full Coronation robes and holding the sceptre in his right hand. St Edward's crown rests on a cushion on the left. Reynolds painted a pair of full-length portraits of the enthroned King and Queen to be shown at the first Royal Academy exhibition to take place at Somerset House in 1780. The originals are still at the Royal Academy.
