Summary
Miniature, enamel, Martha reproving Saint Mary Magdalen (after Bernardino Luini) by Anton Carteret (fl.1799). Two three-quarter-length figures, Martha to the left rebuking with her right forefinger and laying her left hand on the others's forearm, the Magdalen in sumptuous clothes and lavishly dressed hair, holding celandines and smiling, her elbow on a table on which there is a small pot of pink ointment. 1799. Signed on reverse and dated 1799 at Hanau of the Virgin and Martha (Mary and Martha) after the Florentine painting. Bottom right corner chipped. .
