Summary
Three dishes, porcelain, round, fluted and with a scalloped rim, made in Arita, Hizen Province, Japan, c. 1700–20, decorated in the Imari palette in underglaze blue and overglaze red and gold with a stylised chrysanthemum in the centre surrounded by three flowering trees (prunus, wisteria and camellia) interspersed with three floral and foliate roundels (chrysanthemum, iris and peony).

An Imari covered bowl decorated in a somewhat similar manner with three trees and a central stylised chrysanthemum motif is at Saltram, inv. no. NT 870933.
Provenance
Possibly at Cockayne Hatley, Bedfordshire, and moved to Belton House after 1921; purchased by the National Trust with assistance from the National Heritage Memorial Fund, 1984.
