Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A Young Girl holding a Sheaf of Corn with Cornflowers (possibly Emma Cornewall, Mrs Thomas Vernon [1711-1777]), representing Summer, possibly Swiss School, circa 1750-1760. A half-length portrait of a young girl, turned slightly to the right, head inclined to the left, gazing at the spectator, her dark hair is dressed with a string of pearls and a ringlet falls on her left shoulder, she is wearing a white dress with braid-edged ruffles and ribbons, lace, clasping a bunch of corn and cornflowers to her breast with her left arm and hand, and holding a cornflower in her left hand. Possibly Emma Cornewall, married to the subject of HAN.P.57 Inscribed No 40. Jane Cornwallis.
