Summary
L-shaped, corner newel post. Carved with griffin heads at the top and discus and cord motifs towards base. Part of a double staircase comprising of treads, risers, bannisters and newel posts, half Jacobean, half 18th century.
Provenance
Part of the Lothian Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940)
