Summary
Textile Box 4. A pelmet or valance. Brown, blue and pink floral design in brown cartouches. A red braid border. Lined. Part of the design has been removed. See also T/233,433,548 and 584. Textile Box 4. Two bed valances of highly glazed cotton european chintz, with floral and scroll design in shades of brown, rose and blue on cream ground. Edges bound in pink fabric, the longer of the two has a white glazed sleeve for the hanging rod, the other has a chintz sleeve. Late 19th century rococo design.
Provenance
Part of the Lothian Collection. The Hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1940 by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940).
