This picture was formerly identified as of Mary Queen of Scots. It is, however, a Jacobean portrait, and almost certainly represents Anne of Denmark.
Summary
Oil painting on panel, Queen Anne (of Denmark) (1574–1619), possibly by John de Critz (Antwerp 1551/2 – London 1642). A three-quarter length portrait, wearing a richly-embroidered white long-sleeved dress trimmed with pink, red and blue, and red rosettes with jet in centre on bodice and shoulders, wide skirt with ruffled pannier, high reticella lace collar, neckline and cuffs. Black and red ribbon head-dress with pearls and jet, and matching drop earrings. Pearl necklace and three ropes of pearls across bodice. Left hand holding fan attached to bodice by pink ribbon. Red velvet upholstered chair at left with large gold urn finial. Standing in front of damask wall covering.
