Summary
Oil painting on canvas, General George Monck, 1st Duke of Albemarle (1608-1670), after Samuel Cooper (London 1608 – London 1672). A painted oval bust-length portrait, looking to his left. In armour, with white lace collar, full wig unpowdered, medal of St George and Dragon/Order of the Garter on a gold chain round neck. He masterminded the restoration of Charles II in 1660. The original miniature is in the Duke of Buccleuch Collection.
