Summary
An oak chair, English, late 17th century. The back with twist turned baluster supports with C scroll carved panels surmounted with a carved top rail and turned finials. The later caned seat above baluster turned legs joined by stretchers, the front stretcher carved with further scroll decoration. Originally with a solid plank seat. Red wool cushion with horsehair filling.
Provenance
Part of the Lothian Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940).
