Summary
A joined oak backstool, late 17th century / early 18th century, English, South Lancashire / North Cheshire. The paneled back carved with a stylized tulip and oak leaves surmounted by an arched top rail with further oak leaf and scroll carving, the uprights capped with pyramid finials. the solid plank seat above baluster turned legs tied by stretchers

Part of the Lothian Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940)
