Summary
One of an associated set of three joined oak backstools, English, Yorkshire / Derbyshire, late 17th century. With double horizontal arched back stretchers carved with central mask and scroll decoration, held by square section supports with applied moldings. With a paneled plank seat on bobbin turned baluster legs tied by stretchers.
Provenance
Part of the Lothian Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940)
