Summary
Cover for sugar bowl. Chelsea, c.1760-65. Soft-paste porcelain. Transfer printed with exotic birds, herons and others, in pink monochrome, gilt lines. Knob handle. en camaieu rose. Part of a tea service.
Provenance
The 1793 inventory of Blickling notes in the China Closet '1 Teapot Pheasant China, Sugar Dish and Cover, Cream pot, 6 Cups and 10 Saucers'. In 1761, John Hobart, 2nd Earl of Buckinghamshire married the heiress Mary Ann (d.1769), daughter of Sir Thomas Drury, Bart.
