Summary
Oil painting on panel, Said to be Elizabeth Drake, Lady Bampfylde, manner of Sir Anthony Van Dyck (Antwerp 1599 - London 1641). A portrait of the daughter of Sir John Clifton, Kt, wife of Sir Amyas Bampfylde, wearing black dress, holding flowers. Although inscribed as Elizabeth, daughter of Sir John Clifton, and wife of Sir Amyas Bampfylde, this is actually a woman of a later generation, painted in a pose used by Van Dyck for Henrietta Maria.
