Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir Watkin Williams-Wynn, 3rd Bt of Winnstay, MP (1692 - 1749) by Michael Dahl (Stockholm 1656/9 – London 1743), formerly attributed to Enoch Seeman the younger (Gdańsk c.1694 – London 1744), not by Thomas Hudson despite the insciption. A three-quarter-length portrait of Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, of Wynnstay, wearing a blue coat. The sitter was the son of Sir William Williams, 2nd Bt. and Jane Thelwall. He married firstly Anne Vaughan and secondly Frances Shackerley (d.1803), the daughter of George Shakerley Bt, on 19 July 1748. He was educated Jesus College Oxford. and was MP for Denbigh between 1716 - 49 (supported both Walpole and the Jacobites) and Mayor of Oswestry in 1728 and Chester in 1732. His son with Frances Shackerley was Sir Watkin Williams-Wynn, 4th Bt (1749-1789) He died on 26 September 1749, killed by a fall whilst out hunting.
