Summary
Oil painting on canvas (oval), Thomas, Viscount Deerhurst, later 2nd Earl of Coventry (c. 1672 - 1710), manner of Sir Godfrey Kneller (Lübeck 1646/9 - London 1723), circa 1690. An oval half-length portrait, wearing a russet velvet coat. He was the son of Thomas Coventry, 1st Earl of Coventry and Winifred Edgcumbe. He married Lady Anne Somerset, daughter of Henry Somerset, 1st Duke of Beaufort and Mary Capell, on 4 May 1691 at Badminton, Gloucestershire. He held the offices of Custos Rotulorum of Worcestershire between 1699 and 1710 and Recorder of Coventry between 1706 and 1710. He died in August 1710 and was buried at Croome Dabitot, Worcestershire. He died intestate and his estate was administered on 5 December 1710.
