Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir John Pole, 3rd Bt by John Riley (London 1646 – London 1691), circa 1666. A three-quarter-length portrait, wearing black armour with crimson sash. He was the eldest son of Sir Courtenay Pole, 2nd Bt and Ureth Shapcote. He married, in about 1666, Anne Morice, daughter of Sir William Morice Kt of Werrington.He was an inactive Tory Member of Parliament for Lyme Regis in1686-7 and 1689–90, Bossiney 1698 -1700, Devon 1701 -02, E Looe 1702 -05 and Newport, Cornwall 1705-08. His children were: Sir William Pole, 4th Bt (d.1741), John Pole (d.1710), Urith Pole and the Reverend Carolus Pole (c.1686-1731).
