Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir John William de la Pole, 6th Bt (1757-1799) by Thomas Beach (Milton Abbas 1738 – Dorchester 1806), signed and dated 1794. A full-length portrait in Deputy Lieutenant's uniform, holding a scroll of the plans of Shute House, dated 1787, by Thomas Parlby, the partner of his father-in-law, James Templer, with his dog at his side. He was the son of Sir John Pole, 5th Bt and Elizabeth Mills and married Anne Templer, daughter of James Templer, on 9 January 1781. Their children were: Marianne Pole and Sir William Templer Pole, 7th Bt (1782-1847).
