Oil painting on canvas, Anna Isabella Van Beyeren – Schagen, Countess of Nassau-Beverweerd (1636-1716) after Princess Louise Hollandine, Abbess of Maubisson, Pontoise (1622–1709), 1650-80. A portrait of a woman in a painted oval, head and shoulders, in white satin dress and jewelled cloak over right shoulder, looking down to right. Copied from the double portrait painted by Louise Hollandine of the Palatinate, now in the Herzog Anton Urich Museum, Brunswick. Identified in 1990 by F.von Kretschmar. Previously identified as Jemima, Countess of Sandwich, and displayed on the Main Stairs.
Provenance
Left at the property when Cotehele was accepted in lieu of tax from Kenelm, 6th Earl of Mount Edgcumbe (1873–1965) and transferred to the National Trust in 1947; and amongst the contents accepted in lieu of estate duty by HM Treasury and transferred to the National Trust in 1974
