Leaves from the octavo vol. have been disbound, and tipped in or mounted with related engravings. Possible loss of some loose plates.With some additional annotation in contemporary hand, identifying portraits, etc. Provenance: inscribed "Stamford, Weybridge" [i.e. William Grey, 9th Earl of Stamford (1850-1910)]. Contains an autograph letter signed from H.A.J. Breun, print seller, Soho Square, to Lord Stamford, discussing the merits of the engravings with a view to individual framing; dated: 18 June 1907. Binding: late eighteenth or early nineteenth-century diced calf; gilt tooled borders; sewn onto five raised double bands; gilt tooled spine, board edges and turn-ins. Gilt lettered spine: Granger's Hist. of England.
