Bought by Robert Trevor (1706-1783), secretary of the British embassy at The Hague, on behalf of Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742) of Nocton, Lincolnshire. Binding: eighteenth-century limp comb and swirl pattern marbled paper wrapper sewn on four supports; untrimmed edges. Resewn and repaired; paper repairs. Book conservator's typescript note attached to rear pastedown: "Wicquefort, History of the Dutch Republic, vol. II. Condition on arrival: sewing broken down, cover torn, with spine partially defective. ... [treatment report] ... N.W.M. Pickwoad November 1980". In modern brown buckram book box.
