Provenance: manuscript initial on front fly-leaf: "M." [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Manuscript shelfmark in tiny writing at foot of verso of final blank leaf: "F3.X.73" [this is the same shelfmark as given in John Mitchell's manuscript catalogue of Sir Richard Ellys's library]. Binding: eighteenth-century[?] half-bound sheepskin, with marbled paper over boards; sewn on three supports; five raised bands; gilt fillet decoration on spine; gilt title 'Temple commoni &c. MS.' lettered directly onto spine; untrimmed edges.
