Provenance: armorial bookplate to front pastedown with motto, sidus adsit amicum: Bateman of Middleton Hall (by Youlgrave) in the County of Derby; seventeenth century ink marginal inscription to p. 2 (B1v.): 'Thomas White'; inscriptions and scribbles in at least three further seventeenth-century hands to verso of title page; final two leaves with ink scribbles (no discernible content). Binding: late seventeenth-century sheep over boards, covers with three dyed panels, speckling to inner and outer, red edges; rebacked in the twentieth-century: paler calf spine with five raised bands, gilt lettered direct; binder's stamp to front pastedown: Bound by Birsdall, Wood Northampton.
