Provenance: manuscript initials on front endpaper in both vols: "JS". Slip of paper inserted at end of vol. 2, with manuscript note: "NB. The indexes belonging to the Epist. ad Famil. are at the end of the 2d. vol. of the Epist. ad Attic." [in the hand of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Binding: seventeenth-century plain vellum over boards; gilt title and vol. no, on brown leather label on spines. Blue sprinkled edges.
