Preliminary half-title leaf to vol. 1 missing; preliminaries appear to be misbound, with preliminaries to vol. 1 consisting of title page, followed by two leaves (first leaf signed a) with an "Advertisement", paginated as pages [vii]-[x], and with the author's epitaph on verso of second leaf, followed by an unpaginated dedicatory leaf, followed by a contents leaf paginated [v]-vi and preliminaries to vol. 2 consisting of title page, followed by preliminary half-title leaf, followed by second contents leaf paginated vii[-viii], followed by first contents leaf paginated [v]-vi. Provenance: eighteenth century manuscript inscription "O Finch" (partially cropped) on title page to vol. 1. Provenance: nineteenth century armorial bookplate with crest depicting a lion statant with tail extended and the Talbot motto "Prest d'accomplir" on front pastedown to both volumes. Binding: nineteenth century? half calf with marbled paper covers; gilt tooling, gilt tooled title label reading "Carr's Sermons" and volume numbers on spine.
