Provenance: nineteenth century armorial bookplate with crest depicting a lion statant with tail extended and the Talbot motto "Prest d'accomplir" on front pastedown. Nineteenth century manuscript inscription "ADK 609323/32" on rear pastedown. Binding: eighteenth century gilt tooled sprinkled calf; decorative tooling on edges of boards; gilt tooling and manuscript title label in an eighteenth century italic hand, reading "Fables English & French" on spine; text block edges sprinkled red and brown.
