Binding: Nineteenth-century full brown morocco; gilt roll and triple gilt fillet to form a border; gilt-stamped cornerpieces (floral spray); sewn onto five raised bands; gilt tooled spine, lettered direct: 'Morant's History of Essex' and 'Illustrated / Vol. II.'; double gilt fillet on board edges; gilt rolled turn-ins; gilt textblock edges; marbled endpapers. Binder's gilt stamp on front turn-in: 'Bound by Riviere & Son'.
