Portraits of Louis Thomassin and Charles du Fresne sieur du Cange loosely inserted between leaves Bb2 and Cc1 in vol. 2. Some water staining at foot of leaves in both vols. Provenance: eighteenth-century Jacobean armorial bookplate (Franks 32206), lettered: William Windham Esquire [i.e. William Windham (1717-1761)]. Manuscript former shelfmark in pencil on verso of vol. 1 front free endpaper: "C7". Manuscript former shelfmark in black ink on recto of vol. 1 rear free endpaper: "N8". Binding: eighteenth-century full reversed calf; blind-tooled with roll patterns to a panel design; gilt title and vol. number on brown goatskin labels on spines. Red sprinkled textblock edges. French curl or placard pattern marbled endpapers.
