Provenance: manuscript inscription in eighteenth-century hands on first front endleaf: [1] "C. & P." [i.e. the "collated and perfect" mark of the bibliophile Thomas Rawlinson (1681-1725)], continued "Legi Febr: 1722/3"; [2] "D all" (capital letter found in a number of Blickling's books but unknown as to what it means). Binding: eighteenth-century sprinkled calf (worn), dot-line-dot gilt border with gilt and laurel cornerpieces; blind rolled pattern on board edges; six raised bands, gilt-tooled spine with gilt title "AUBREY HIST OF SURREY" on goatskin label; four supports laced-in; pastedown with sewn-endleaf attachment and endleaves; red sprinkled edges.
