Provenance: manuscript inscription on first front endleaf of all five volumes: "C. & P." [i.e. the "collated and perfect" mark of the bibliophile Thomas Rawlinson (1681-1725)], continued on vol. 1: "Legi Febr: 1722/3". Manuscript inscription in an eighteenth-century hand at head of vol. 1 first front endleaf: "D all" (capital letter found in a number of Blickling's books but unknown as to what it means). Binding: eighteenth-century sprinkled calf (worn), dot-line-dot gilt border with gilt and laurel cornerpieces; blind rolled pattern on board edges; six raised bands, gilt-tooled spine with gilt title "AUBREY HIST OF SURREY" on goatskin label; four supports laced-in; pastedown with sewn-endleaf attachment and endleaves; red sprinkled edges.
