Summary
A collection of Printed and Manuscript Sources for Haydn's Two Marches for the Derbyshire Yeomanry Cavalry, (Hob. VIII, nos.1 and 2), commissioned by Sir Henry Harpur. A letter from Lady Frances Harpur to Sir Henry Harpur, on the Harpur Marches, 4 pages, quarto and dated 22 Dec 1794. The letter contains the following ' Charles has seen Haydn about ''your March'' and requested that a change be made. Haydn has stated that he could compose a March in a short time but a complete composition in various parts would take some time. His fee is 24 guineas. Charles would like the March to be printed and presented to the Derbyshire Cavalry. With verses for ''Hymn for Christmas Day''-on last page: ''Hark! The glad Sound! The Saviour comes''
