Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Cavaliers before a Walled Town, attributed to Jan Peeter Verdussen (Antwerp c.1700 - Avignon 1763). A group of three horses is in the foreground, an officer wearing a red jacket mounted on one of them. An army camp is behind, with rows of grey tents in the background. To the left is a group of people outside a tent (inventory card). One of a pair of oil paintings on canvas, showing battle scenesPendant to CAL/P/196a. The uniform suggests that these two pictures may have been painted in England (House Guide, last revised 1996).
