Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Cavaliers before a Walled Town, attributed to Jan Peeter Verdussen (Antwerp c.1700 - Avignon 1763). Cavaliers are shown under a cloud of grey smoke, a wall with turrets to the left. A flag and armour lie in the foreground and men attend to the wounded, two officers in a blue jacket and a red jacket in the centre (inventory card). One of a pair of oil paintings on canvas, showing battle scenes. Pendant to NT 290374. The uniform suggests that these two pictures may have been painted in England.
