Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Fisherfolk on the Seashore, in the manner of George Morland (London 1763 – London 1804). Depicting fishermen on a seashore. A man with two children, a donkey and a dog walks away from the sea where two other figures are with a boat. the donkey walks ion front its paniers full of fish. the man and boy behind also carry baskets. A high wooded cliff rises behind, the sea to the left.
Provenance
Acquired with Calke Abbey's contents, with the aid of a grant provided by the National Heritage Memorial Fund, thanks to a special allocation of money from the Government and transferred in lieu of tax on the estate of Charles Jenney Harpur-Crewe (1917 - 1981) to the National Trust with the house that was given by Henry Jenney Harpur-Crewe (1921- 1991), in 1984
