Summary
Oil painting on panel, Figures and horses by a Tavern, by an imitator of Barent Gael (c.1620 -1687 or 1703), signed (bears signature) bottom right: B. GAEL. The figures, dogs and horses are seen outside a double gabled building with a steeply pitched roof. On the left, in the distance is another group of figures and some more buildings.
Provenance
Calke Abbey was given to the National Trust by Henry Harpur Crewe (1921-1991) and the contents, including this painting, were acquired with the aid of a grant from the National Heritage Fund, thanks to a special allocation of money from the Government, in 1984
