Oil painting on canvas, Tric-trac Players, manner of Jan Miense Molenaer (Haarlem c.1610 – Haarlem 1668), 17th century. Three men seated in an interior at a table to left on it a game board, beneath the table is a jug; lower right, armoured breastplate, helmet, rifle and pistol; crowd of figures playing cards in adjacent room seen through door on right. (surface damage)
Provenance
Calke Abbey was given to the National Trust by Henry Harpur Crewe (1921-1991) and the contents, including this painting, were acquired with the aid of a grant from the National Heritage Fund, thanks to a special allocation of money from the Government, in 1984.
