Summary
A rectangular metal case, originally japanned with a tortoiseshell finish. Hinged lid with central handle over label embossed; 'Hamburger & Co./30 Kings St. Govt. (Covent?)Gardn/London'. A paper label is inscribed 'Col. Mosley/ Calke Abbey/ Derby'. Another one inscribed 'E Harpur Crewe 1st Regt. Dragoon Guards/ North C/ Aldershott'. 'E.H.C.' stamped on the lid. The box originally contained pieces of military uniform. The E stands for Evelyn Harpur Crewe.
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust by the Treasury in lieu of CTT in 1985 with an endowment provided by the NHMF.
