Jean-Gilles-Maries-Joseph Schamp d'Aveshoot (1765- 1839), Ghent; his posthumous sale, 14th September 1840, lot 168; George Gibbs (d. 1842) gave it to his younger brother, William (1790 - 1895) before his death; purchased by the National Trust from the estate of the late George Richard Lawley Gibbs, 2nd Baron Wraxall (1928 – 2001) with the assistance of the NHMF, Art Fund and donations from members and supporters in 2002
