Summary
Oil painting on panel, Capriccio River Scene with a Temple, Houses and Bridge, French School, 18th century. On the left are three stone steps leading down to the water's edge with a reed boat propped up vertically. Behind is an edifice with classical columns and arches with a figure walking past in front of it, and behind the building is a tree. In the distance in the middle is a bridge and on the right a house with a man-made bird's nest (?) coming out of the roof. Probably a wall decoration or overmantel.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust, along with the house, furniture and other contents collected by Sir Walter Jenner, 2nd Bt (1860 - 1948), in 1949.
