Summary
Oil painting on canvas laid on board, A Classical Landscape in the manner of Jan Frans van Bloemen, called Orizzonte (Antwerp 1662 – Rome 1749. Previously thought to be by Andrea Locatelli (c.1695-c.1741). Three figures resting by a ruined temple; a herm, to which an offering is being made, in the centre; classical buildings in the background. One of a pair of ideal landscapes, see NT 207819. Bought by Mrs Bambridge in 1963.

Bought by Mrs Bambridge in July 1963 from Oscar & Peter Johnson as by 'Orizonte', for £650; bequeathed by Elsie Kipling, Mrs George Bambridge (1896 - 1976), daughter of Rudyard Kipling, to the National Trust together with Wimpole Hall, all its contents and an estate of 3,000 acres
