Summary
Floor tile - Design 63 - Fragment - The tile is heraldic and the design is the Arms of England. The glaze is brown to light brown. Potentially mid 13th to early 14th century. (Group F – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). The tile fragment has a good example of the lions in the design but the tile material is flaky and in a possibly unstable condition. The design has a good amount of slip, although patches are thin or missing. There are small patches of glaze on the slip and the body of the tile. On the reverse is a section of a scoop.
