Summary
Floor tile - Design 63 - Fragment - The tile is heraldic and the design is the Arms of England. The glaze is brown to light brown. Potentially mid 13th to early 14th century. (Group F – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). The tile fragment is a corner piece and is in good condition, apart from the actual corner which is damaged. A good amount of slip remains but a lot of the shield border is missing from the corner. The glaze on the slip is patchy. On the body, there is a layer of glaze but it varies in thickness across the tile. On the reverse is potential evidence of a scoop.
