Summary
Floor tile - Design 59 - Fragment - The tile has a diagonal cross within a circle, which divides the tile into four quadrants. In each quadrant is a blobby fleur de lys along each edge. The tiles formed a carpet design as they can be laid in any direction and still form a coherent pattern. Potentially mid 13th to early 14th century. (Group F – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). The tile fragment is a corner piece and is in fair condition. Patches of slip remain but none is glazed. On the body, there are a couple of very small patches of glaze.
