Summary
Floor tile - Design 58 - Fragment - The tile is presumably a border tile as it is rectangular. It has two, eight petalled rosettes within a lozenge frame. The bevel is straight to slight and the glaze is light to dark brown. Potentially mid 13th to early 14th century. (Group F – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). The tile fragment has one rosette decoration. It is in fair condition but something has caused the design to become nearly completely obscured, despite there being a good layer of glaze across the tile. It has also caused the colour of the glaze to be light green and has the appearance of something being scraped across. It appears the slip is still intact and glazed. On the reverse is a single scoop, which is full of mortar, but there would be two on a full tile.
