Summary
Floor tile - Design 52 - Fragment - The tile has a chequered pattern and would have formed a carpet design as they can be laid in any direction and still form a coherent pattern. Potentially mid 13th to early 14th century. (Group F – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). The tile fragment is a corner piece and is in fair condition. A good amount of slip remains. Some slip appears to be glazed but some of the glaze has turned grey with small yellow spots which makes it look like the slip is missing. There are very small spots of glaze on the body and a dent which contains glaze.
