Summary
Floor tile - Design 52 - Fragment - The tile has a chequered pattern and would have formed a carpet design as they can be laid in any direction and still form a coherent pattern. Potentially mid 13th to early 14th century. (Group F – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). The tile fragment is a corner piece and is in good condition. The majority of the slip remains and most has a thin layer of glaze. The glaze on the body is thin and patchy. \there is a small amount of glaze along one edge and small chunks of mortar on both edges and the reverse.
