Summary
Floor tile - Design 45 - Fragment - The tiles have intersecting arcs and fleurs de lys on trefoil headed bases. There are two fleurs de lys with an abacus and two with foliate arms. Potentially mid 13th to early 14th century. (Group F – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). This fragment is a corner of a tile and is in good condition. The corner has the fleur de lys with foliate arms decoration on it. The majority of the cream coloured slip remains but only small patches are still glazed. The body of the tile is orange but the remaining patches of glaze are darker. Most of the remaining glaze is right in the corner. On the reverse is a broken patch would could be evidence of a scoop.
