Summary
Floor tile - Design 30 - Fragment - The tile has a Miserere script design. The edge of the tile is straight to slight bevel. The glaze is dark green over the body and light green-yellow over the inlay. Likely dates to the 15th century. (Group D – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). One of two parts of a tile and this is the left side. The tile part is in a stable condition as a lot of the design and imprint has worn away, particularly the middle. Slip remains along the left and bottom side edges and a patch in the top left corner is covered by glaze. The only glaze remaining on the body is in the top left corner. The bottom left corner has been rounded. This is the largest part and therefore, on the reverse, is the majority of a shallow, single, central scoop.
