Summary
Floor tile - Design 27 - Fragment - This design is the mirror image of design 25. The tile has veined leaves in an arcade with trefoil pendants at the bottom of each arch. Above this is a dotted band. The edges are straight to slightly bevelled. Part of a 16 tile set with designs 24, 25 and 26. Early 16th century, possibly 1520. (Group B – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). One of two known parts of a tile and this is the left side. The part is in fair condition. Some slip is left, particularly in the top two thirds of the piece. There are small patches of thin glaze on the slip and the body. Small patches of glaze are on the left and top edges of the piece. This is the biggest piece and therefore has a large section of the single, central scoop on the reverse.
